Wheel Chair Project
project description
Wheel Chair Project
In Teso sub-region, older persons, particularly rural residents living alone or widowed, are most affected by physical disabilities stemming from years of physically strenuous agricultural work. Among our direct beneficiaries, at least 21 older persons, including 17 women and 4 men, are physically disabled. Despite significant need, no program currently addresses the mobility challenges of older persons, leaving them excluded and underserved. Recognizing this gap, we are launching a new initiative to provide wheelchairs to older persons in the Teso sub-region. You can get involved, and support this project by either donating Wheel chairs in-kind, donating money for their purchase and/or spreading the word!
Why Older Persons?
Immobility among older persons limits their access to basic services such as healthcare facilities and hampers their participation in community activities. It also not only increases their reliance on caregivers for daily tasks but undermines their sense of dignity, autonomy, and agency. Moreover, it impedes their ability to engage in income-generating activities, such as agriculture, as some resorting to crawling while tilling their farms. Sedentary lifestyles resulting from immobility also worsen existing health conditions and intensify feelings of social isolation and depression among older persons.
Why Wheel Chair Donations
By donating wheelchairs, we are certain to make a significant difference in the lives of older persons with physical disabilities in Teso sub-region. Wheelchairs will restore their independence and mobility, enabling them to access essential services, engage in community activities, and perform daily tasks with greater ease. Your support will alleviate their dependence on caregivers, reduce feelings of isolation, and promote better physical and mental well-being. This would enhance the quality of life and social inclusion of older persons in our community.
How you can Help?
We invite you to support our wheelchair project by providing wheel chairs in kind, making a monetary donation, volunteering your time, or spreading awareness about our cause. Every donation, no matter how small, will help us provide wheelchairs to older persons in need and improve their lives. To learn more or get involved, please visit our website or contact us directly.
