Salume Okure Solita

Nurse by training, a Mandela Washington Fellow (2025), and a public health practitioner working at the intersection of healthcare, social protection, and community systems. Her work focuses on practical responses to aging in low-resource settings, with an emphasis on community-based care and dignity in later life. She is also a researcher in aging and a published author, contributing perspectives on elder care in the Global South through thought pieces and mainstream media. Her work brings together practice, research, and advocacy to advance grounded, locally relevant approaches to supporting older persons.
