Home Care Rounds
We have found in our experience, that older people thrive best when they can remain in the familiar comfort of their own homes and community. It’s in these familiar surroundings that they feel most at ease, maintaining a sense of independence, dignity and heritage. We therefore follow them up in their homesteads to provide personalized care and support through regular visits scheduled on weekly rounds. These visits enable us to engage with the elder person, and also interact with their immediate caregivers where they are available, as well as with the immediate neighbors, and local leaders.
Activities
Food Item gifts, cooking and sharing
In this activity, we deliver essential food items as gifts to elderly individuals during our home care rounds. We buy some and also receive in-kind from the community. Additionally, during these visits, our team cooks some of the food, which we then serve and share with the elderly person and their immediate neighbors within the household of the elderly person, fostering a sense of companionship and community. This ensures that our beneficiaries have access to nutritious meals while also creating opportunities for social interaction and connection within their homes and neighborhoods.
Activities
Home Maintenance Support
As we spend time in their homes, our youthful team rolls up their sleeves to help with basic chores to ensure their living environment remains clean, comfortable, and safe. We wash their clothes and bedding, tidy up their living spaces, and maintain or fix essential facilities such as latrines, overgrown compounds, and pathways in and out of their homesteads. This way, we help alleviate the physical burden on our beneficiaries and promote a conducive living environment that enhances their well-being, safety, and quality of life.
Activities
Prayer Fellowship
During our home visits, we dedicate time to fellowship and study the Bible with the elderly and their neighbors who join us. In these sessions, we emphasize the blessings of old age and encourage gratitude for their long lives. Through these gatherings, we encourage personal reflection and provide spiritual nourishment, encouragement, and support. This fosters a sense of unity and purpose, uplifting the spirits of our beneficiaries and nurturing a community environment that values and cares for the elderly.
Related Projects
Care Home
Each of our beneficiaries will have the opportunity to live in, and receive care from our trained staff through a rotational occupancy program where residents rotate in and out of the home.
Wheel Chair Project
We provide mobility aids to older persons to ease their movement, enabling them to access essential services, engage in community activities, and perform daily tasks with ease.
